Exercise Science Emphasis (Tennessee Transfer Pathway), A.S.


The Exercise Science* emphasis is designed to meet the needs of students interested in transferring to a public university in Tennessee to pursue a baccalaureate degree in exercise science.

To facilitate success in this program, all students should enroll in ORN 1010 - Orientation: Learning to Succeed  during their first semester at DSCC.

Total: 60 Semester Hours


*This Tennessee Transfer Pathway is not available at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and the University of Memphis.

**For lists of eligible electives, see the appropriate section of the General Education Core Curriculum Requirements .

***The Mathematics elective (one course) must be completed from the following: MATH 1410 , MATH 1420 , MATH 1530 , MATH 1630  or MATH 1710 .

****General electives must be selected from courses which are part of a Tennessee Transfer Pathway. Consult the Course Descriptions section in this catalog. Courses which are designated as **Not Part of a Tennessee Transfer Pathway** should not be taken as general electives.

Note: During the sophomore year all students planning to teach should meet the Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators (Core) or ACT testing requirements for their transfer institution.

Additional information regarding foreign language:

At some universities, foreign language may be required in certain programs that lead to the Bachelor of Science Degree. Complete information regarding foreign language requirements at each university may be found on the transfer and articulation websites of the Tennessee Board of Regents and the University of Tennessee Systems. Community college students are encouraged to be familiar with foreign language requirements at the universities and, if applicable, complete the requirements before transferring.
