Healthcare Technician Certificate

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Programs of Instruction

DSCC’s Healthcare Technician program prepares the student to become a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA). CCMAs are multi-skilled professionals who are valuable assets to physicians. They assist during physical examinations, maintain treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, answer patient questions and obtain vital signs. As CCMAs, students will also be certified as Phlebotomy Technicians and Electrocardiogram Technicians. Students begin their course of study for this program in the front office of the medical practice and then move into the clinical portion of the program.

Due to clinical requirements for this certificate, the student should be prepared to have a background check and drug screen completed at the student’s expense.

The courses in this Program require the student to take the industry certification exams in Phlebotomy, EKG, and Certified Clinical Medical Assistant at the conclusion of each applicable course. The certification exams also come at an additional cost to the student.

Please contact your instructor or the Dean of Business, Technology, and Allied Health for more information about any of the above requirements and costs.
