The Electronic Health Record (EHR) Certificate prepares students to work in an electronic health record environment. The students become familiar with the electronic health record, the legal aspects of health records in an electronic environment (including HIPAA laws regarding the EHR) and the software programs used in a Health Information Management Department for storage and retrieval of the EHR. Each course in this certificate may be applied to the Health Information Management major.
Students enrolled in the EHR Certificate program must earn a C or better in all classes in the EHR Certificate curriculum.
TYPICAL JOBS: Assistant in EHR in all types of health care facilities, hospitals, nursing facilities (intermediate and skilled), rehabilitation (physical and mental), and same-day surgery centers
