Social Work Emphasis (Tennessee Transfer Pathway), A.A.


The Social Work emphasis provides students various foundational courses in the field of social work. The student completes the first two years of requirements leading toward a baccalaureate degree.

To facilitate success in this program, all students should enroll in ORN 1010 - Orientation: Learning to Succeed  during their first semester at DSCC.

**Students who plan to transfer to UT Knoxville are strongly encouraged to take non-U.S. history courses to fulfill the General Education history requirement.

***Students should confer with their advisor or a representative of the university to which they intend to transfer to determine the recommended Humanities/Fine Arts courses. Students who intend to transfer to the University of Memphis should take a literature sequence to fulfill this requirement. Tennessee State University also recommends a literature sequence.

****TSU requires ECON. The University of Memphis and UT Chattanooga require ANTHRO.

Requirements for a Bachelor of Arts degree at universities include demonstrated competency in foreign language at the intermediate level. Community college students are encouraged to attain intermediate-level competency in foreign language before transferring.
