This course is a study of more complex four-part harmonic progressions in all chord positions including chords with added ninths, elevenths and thirteenths. Advanced types of modulation and chord structures such as augmented sixth chords and Neapolitan sixths are studied and included in written assignments which are entered into Finale and Sibelius. A brief study of atonal, twelve-tone serial composition and quartal/quintal composition will be included. 3 lecture hours.
