History Emphasis (Tennessee Transfer Pathway), A.A.

The History emphasis provides the basic coursework designed to prepare the student for advanced studies in history at the transfer institution.

To facilitate success in this program, all students should enroll in ORN 1010 - Orientation: Learning to Succeed  during their first semester at DSCC.

Footnotes:

(1) Students who plan to transfer to the UoM must complete at least one fine arts under the Humanities and Fine Arts general education requirement. Students planning to transfer to MTSU can take an approved Anthropology course in either the Humanities and Fine Arts or in an Area of Emphasis.

(2) Students who plan to transfer to UTK must complete a natural science sequence.

(3) Consult the academic catalog or an advisor at your transferring institution to determine if this History elective course may count towards your intended transfer major or as a general elective.

(4) Students planning to transfer to TTU can choose from any two of the four courses listed to complete this area of emphasis requirement.

(5) One year sequence in a single foreign languge. Students who plan to transfer to UTK or UTC will be required to demonstrate intermediate level competency in Foreign Language before graduating either institution. Students may demonstrate intermediate-level competence after transferring. Students may take these additional foreign language courses to fulfill the Elective category.

(6) A total of 4 credit hours in unspecified, transferable electives is needed to complete the degree requirements. At DSCC, three of these hours are satisfied by ORN 1010.

(7.)For lists of eligible electives, see the appropriate section of the General Education Core Curriculum Requirements 

(8.)General electives must be selected from courses which are part of a Tennessee Transfer Pathway. Consult the Course Descriptions section in this catalog. Courses which are designated as **Not Part of a Tennessee Transfer Pathway** should not be taken as general electives.

(9.) At least one course in literature.
