Business Administration Emphasis (Tennessee Transfer Pathway), A.S.


The Business Administration emphasis is designed to provide the student with the first two years of education necessary to complete a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.

To facilitate success in this program, all students should enroll in ORN 1010 - Orientation: Learning to Succeed  during their first semester at DSCC.

*For lists of eligible electives, see the appropriate section of the General Education Core Curriculum Requirements . Students who plan to transfer to UT Knoxville should take Introduction to Ethics as one of their humanities/fine arts courses or as an alternative elective.

**Minimum one course in literature required.

***MTSU and UT Knoxville should take MATH 1630. Students transferring to TSU, UTC, or UTM should take a college algebra course. UofM requires MATH 1710 or MATH 1830. APSU requires MATH 1710 only. ETSU requires MATH 1530. Johnson University requires MATH 1530. 

****Students who plan to transfer to UT Knoxville must complete MATH 2050 - Calculus-based Probability & Statistics.

*****Applied Calculus is NOT required at UT Martin, MTSU, or TTU. MATH 1830 is a prerequisite to MATH 2050 for UT Knoxville requirement.

******General electives must be selected from courses which are part of a Tennessee Transfer Pathway. Consult the Course Descriptions section in this catalog. Courses which are designated as **Not Part of a Tennessee Transfer Pathway** should not be taken as general electives. Students who plan to transfer to UT Knoxville should take BUSN 2330 as their elective. 

Students who plan to transfer to UT Knoxville will be required to demonstrate intermediate level competency in Foreign Language before graduating from UT Knoxville. Students may demonstrate intermediate level competence after transferring to UT Knoxville.

Students who plan to transfer to UT Knoxville will be required to complete ENGL 295 at UT Knoxville if they have not completed an equivalent course at their community college. Advisors are invited to contact the UT Knoxville Transfer Center to learn more about course equivalencies.

Additional information regarding foreign language:

At some universities, foreign language may be required in certain programs that lead to the Bachelor of Science degree. Complete information regarding foreign language requirements at each university may be found on the transfer and articulation websites of the Tennessee Board of Regents and the University of Tennessee Systems. Community college students are encouraged to be familiar with foreign language requirements at the universities and, if applicable, complete the requirements before transferring.
